massively attacked
I laid down on my bed for a few minutes to watch this Massive Attack DVD that I brought from Japan. The beats were on and my mind went into caramel dreams mode… next thing I know, I’m laying in a pool of sweat and drool, and I’ve just had the best nap in recent memory – I even fell asleep on my stomach, and that like never happens (I also fell asleep on top of a pile of crap on my bed so I woke up with shapes of a pen, the TV remote, and several CDs imprinted on my body). There are certain DVDs that have this tranquilizing…

On the Road 2007 (Part 2)
On a typical road trip, the driver is the big man who calls the shots and ultimately determines whether one arrives safely or stuck in a ditch. The navigator’s main responsibilities include reading maps, changing music, spotting promising meal venues/interesting sights, and taking photos from shotgun position. All of the photos below were taken at high speed (both car and shutter) and the variation in sky color can be attributed to three factors: Ever-changing weather conditions the week of our trip Whether the shot was taken through an open or closed side window, or our polarized windshield (BTW, having a tinted windshield is totally awesome because until now I’ve only…

The Mean Side
This is an update of the adopt-my-child situation. If you shared my anger and shock in that first post, this one will just blow your mind. /////////////////////// Yesterday, Nam and I agreed upon a course of action after carefully considering our options. We decided to take the

Putting the F in WTF
So here I am almost at the half year mark after starting over in this new place. It’s been grand, it’s been challenging, and sometimes the newness of it all is staggering. That newness, combined with my habit of running full speed into all kinds of cultural barriers and boundaries, sometimes creates situations which I am hard pressed to think about, much less relate to my readers about… Forward, then. /////////////// It started out oddly, yet innocently enough. My father-in-law’s friend came over for a visit with his approximately six year old daughter in tow. A sweet girl she was, bold enough to ask for what she wanted, yet polite…

MP3 downloads
Somebody asked me where to download music without using file sharing software. Without a doubt, the best search tool is here: Music Search Plus Here’s what I’m starting my day with today: I remember most of my CDs by their jacket art and the color of the disc. Even if I can’t remember the track names or album name, I can remember what it looks like. Also, I can generally remember what it sounds like in my room, in my car, and through a set of headphones.

“Where Daft Punk got their samples from”
Info from the youTube page: “Here’s where the samples on some of my favourite Daft Punk tracks came from. It’s all legit, paid in full, above board. Still strange to hear, though. The samples were spotted by http://www.ishkur.com/samples/ and the music was collected by http://palmsout.blogspot.com/2007/02/sample-wednesday-27-daft-punk.html I just did the video editing.” awesome.

(might as well) JUMP! – redux
Untitled Originally uploaded by • peyote. Last year I set up a group on flickr dedicated to my love of jump photography. We currently stand at 116 members, with multiple updates to the photo pool every day (current total 412). This is still a small group by flickr standards, but I’m very happy with how it’s turned out. Some very good photographers have joined, and everyone seems to be having a good time. Come join us if you are interested in jump photography!

Anonymous Notifier
Let your co-workers know about their annoying habits: AnnoyingCoworker Yeah, I know what you’re gonna say, “why not just shit in their drawer/key their car/exploit their drug habit,” but as an added bonus, perhaps you could donate their work e-mail address to a dedicated spam concern! I will only remain an annoying coworker until the end of next week. After that I aspire to be an Annoying Operator of the world’s first water buffalo power plant (sorry, it sounds better in Japanese, “??????”).
