Chris Delivery

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being Chris Delivery’s bodyguard (I got the job by looking “ex-yakuza.”) Fortunately, there were no kidnapping or assassination attempts, but he did get jumped…

    Kimchi Packets?

    September 2, 2004 /

A most important question was asked in the comments of an older post today: Does kimchi come in packets? As in, single-serving condiment-sized packets? And, if not, why not? (I suspect that a “single serving” of kimchi varies too greatly from person to person.) Readers, especially those from the land of stinky fermented vegetables (no, not France – wrong veggies!), please help. I want to hear how the local Mc Donalds has started serving up double cheeseburgers w/kimchi like the way I described in the post linked to above.

    Purple Haze

    September 1, 2004 /

I spotted this truck when I was hitchhiking through Nagasaki, but had only one chance to shoot it (cutting off some of the rear) as it rounded the corner and hauled ass to the expressway. I really like this trucks like this. The owner obviously loves it and takes great pride in it, as he should. I love seeing vehicles that are used as giant canvases. Whenever people are stuck in traffic next to this guy, his truck is sure to give them something interesting to contemplate for a while. This truck reminds me of The Porkchop Express from Big Trouble in Little China for some reason.

    Minivans In Japan

    August 31, 2004 /

A train of minivans, hailing from Fukuoka-ken, visits Ikeyama Suigen in Ubuyama-mura. I originally posted this in an earlier post here. Japan is one of the few places in the world where it is considered “cool” to drive around in your mom’s minivan.

The ending of this film bothered me so much that I had to go looking on the net, totally convinced that I had missed something vital in the 0.5 seconds it took me to throw a tissue in the garbage there near the end of the film during the parade scene. Verdict: I didn’t miss a goddamn thing.

Please, Make the Bad Man Go Away

    August 31, 2004 /

So I’m on a coffee break and the guy next to me says, out of the blue, “I wonder how many legs you can pull off a centipede without impeding its ability to forage for food.” I’m at a loss for words, and I wonder if this line of thought has anything to do with the fact that he just got chewed a while ago out by the boss in front of the whole office for holding up production of a new product. A few seconds later, in the same monotonous patter, he muses, “I wonder if its like one of those 16-wheel tractor trailers… If one or two go…
