Random links for April 11, 2007

    April 11, 2007 /

Thanks to the Internet, I now know that the pee shivers are (possibly) officially known as post-micturition convulsion syndrome. How many incorrect stereotypes can you spot in this photo? Better yet, which ones are intentional, and which ones show just how ignorant the creators are? A sea lion eating a shark Christ almighty, that’s a huge rockfish! (and a century old…) Hey, look: A published magazine illegally using and actually watermarking my brother’s photographs! Sue those bitches, Adam! (and yes, people think that the thieves are the creators. Hell, they even think so in Thailand!) This is obviously a bigger sin than, say, incorrect attribution. Have a nice day.

    Ctrl + F5 are friends…

    April 11, 2007 /

So this is the theme I have chosen after trying out 30+. I am, unfortunately, too lazy to write my own all over again. If you are having trouble loading this page or the design looks funny, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while pressing F5. Note: After the upgrade, I noticed that the search function of this blog times out quite a bit. I’ll iron out the bugs eventually. In the meantime, if your search for “naked fat men” times out, hit the back button on your browser and try again.

    time for a new look

    April 10, 2007 /

Having tackled core software issues, it’s time to work on our design. I’m having a great time screwing around with different themes, and I hope Adam does, too (sorry dude, I hosed your previous theme when I overwrote the MT directory). It might be, um… colorful around here for awhile, until we decide on our designs.

    Installing MT 3.34 on Dreamhost

    April 10, 2007 /

After spending a whole day trying to figure out the right combination of fcgi wrappers, Movable Type core file extensions, and .htaccess voodoo, I think I got it figured out. All of my problems were due to 2 main reasons: There is no version 3.34-specific documentation easily available, including on the sixapart website As always, I made mountains out of molehills. In my defense, I can’t help it – shell access and the command line get me excited… Therefore, I offer the following advice for the installation/upgrading of MT to version 3.34 on a Dreamhost shared server: Change your domain settings to run PHP 5.2.1 and enable FastCGI support via…

    Impossible Fish

    April 8, 2007 /

Why not ride on the coattails of the Impossible Fish Tank? (See that? That’s how to give credit, bitches…) We somehow acquired a small fish tank at the house and went out to buy some fish to keep as slaves (not slaves in the sense that they will work our land for a share of the crops, but in the sense that they exist only to amuse us, since freshwater fish make such shitty companions/rescue animals). We went to the local pet shop and found mostly a bunch of fat, quivering goldfish and mollies, which I detest, as I like my slaves skinny (and preferably, forlorn/amusing). In a tank wedged…

Office efficiency skyrockets and school delinquency rates plummet as the Thai government bans popular video sharing site YouTube. Luckily, my site isn’t hosted in Thailand (and why would it be?). vindicated

    April 5, 2007 /

An ATM ate my bank card and the screen flashed OUT OF ORDER in incredibly annoying red letters. I socked it pretty hard and it spit my card back out, then it resumed normal operation. That was pretty much the best thing that happened today (besides finding a really good fried chicken vendor downtown).
