Monkey Time at Kosamphi Forest Park
A few weeks ago we decided to go out for a drive. It was time to take Max for his first visit to the monkey park in the nearby town of Kosum Phisai, so we put his car seat in the trusty old Kujira and were on our way. We took the Kujira instead of the Cefiro because: Monkeys are little bastards that scratch up cars for fun Max sleeps really well in the Crown with its worn suspension and lulling vibration It’s a proper cruising car!! Max spots some fellow monkeys! To a normal person, this might just look like a bunch of monkeys sitting in a row, but…

Another on the way
I wanted to wait a while before announcing this here: Nam is pregnant again! The baby is due in December. We still don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl, and we’ll be happy either way. What can I say? Sometimes life is great.

For Max’s future reference
Some random important stuff: I had no idea the way I tie my ties was called four in hand… I might try tying the other ways shown here too, just for fun. But once your dad teaches you how to tie a tie and you remember that method, that’s probably the method you use your whole life.

Hack Boy
I finally found a use for my 10 year old screaming 333MHz G3 iBook! I never threw it away because I was too fond of it, and what a great bit of luck – this is the best baby computer, ever! It’s built like a tank and so far still operates normally even though Max abuses it with great abandon…

love or hate
Last night we attended a wedding at the Takasila Hotel as a family. It was kind of funny to see how so many elements introduced at our wedding a few years ago (red carpet, flower columns, silk streamers on ceiling, etc.) have been made standard there (this is perhaps the third wedding we’ve been to there since then). Max was a bad boy all day and refused to take his afternoon nap, so he was predictably wired and overtired by the time we got there. It turns out that the couple getting married loves children and had invited a lot of families with kids, many of whom ran around wildly…

Want your wallet back, daddy?
The other day I was holding him and trying to get money from an ATM. When the cash was about to pop out, I opened my wallet in anticipation, and Max grabbed the sheaf of bills contained inside in a monkeylike flash and motioned like he was going to throw them in the air… There were lots of people waiting behind us, so it caused quite a stir.

I scream
This has nothing to do with the photo, but last week we went to the fish sanctuary again and suddenly found ourselves surrounded on five sides by a billy goat, a baby goat, a huge yellow frog, a stray dog, and a tethered brown cow. It was quite exciting because we had a loaf of sliced bread to give to the catfish, but ended up feeding the mammals instead (the frog wasn’t having any of it and hopped away).
