Banhao Shrimp Tacos

Being big supporters of local kitchens and shops, we tried a nearby take on shrimp tacos.

I would say they are much better than other interpretations of tacos I’ve had in Thailand (and I’ve had quite a few). They were just basic, more like shrimp salad wraps. The generic kebab skin/flour tortilla supports this take. There were no chili or cumin notes one would normally expect from a taco.

I decided to kick it up a notch without actually making salsa or guac.

This added a much-needed spicy note to the wrap. These tacos are being sold for about 60 baht each, which I would say a bit steep (you can buy a local “kebab” in a larger wrap, stuffed with chicken and slaw, for the same), but the taste was fine, if you want a basic salad. The presentation was the strong point.
