Should you be polite to your future overlords?

The internet is split on this. However, in their online Elevate curriculum, Microsoft gives examples of saying saying thank you when chatting with Copilot:

My gut feeling is to be polite in preparation for our long future with em dashes and “not merely this, but that” constructions.
