Is natto keto?
Dammit.
Conclusion: Part of this is that most people who say no are calculating carbs per cup. Nobody eats a whole cup of natto, so…
When I need the macros on something to decide whether it’s keto, I do a Google search on “macros 100 g natto” or whatever food it is I’m researching. The AI came back with this response, and I can make my own judgments:
“A 100-g serving of natto contains approximately 19 g of protein, 11 g of fat, and 13 g of carbohydrates.”
So: 13% carbs by weight. If you’re on a 20-g/day carb budget on the keto diet, then a mere 100 g of natto (a bit more than 3 ounces) will take up half of your budget. If the rest of what you eat that day is low- or no-carb (e.g., meats), then that’s fine for a keto diet: you’ll be under your 20-gram limit. But if natto is only one side dish for one of several meals throughout the day, you might have to use caution.
Are you keto-ing? Intermittent fasting? Something else-ing?
