Recently, Google Chat is consistently better in terms of voice and video; this was not the case a year ago. I wonder if switching to a dedicated Jabber client would yield even better results, and might enjoy having Google Chat and Facebook Chat accessible from a single dedicated app, but at the same time I’m really enjoying the simplicity of the Google Chat setup.

I’ve never used Google Chat’s video or voice. Is this the one that’s built into Gmail or is it the separate Google Talk app you’re using?
The built-in one. It’s a bit clunky because the first time you use it, the other party has to approve using chat which can be hard to notice since it appears in the Contacts sidebar on the left. Other than that, it seems great.
