Better than the Discovery Channel

I just love stuff like this: Name the Mystery Fish
My bro, Adam, is kind of a fish otaku…
Ko used to work fishing boats, so for all I know he may have caught one before…
I have a funny feeling that one of my readers can solve the mystery – go take a look!

  1. Does Adam know? It looks like an ancient cousin of the coelacanth, but with more reptilian features. What a fish/shark mystery!

  2. looks like a bunch of folks are trying to figure out what it is. The picture is just not clear enough to clearly ID the thing. I guess a fish is the most logical guess. The tarpon guess sounds reasonable. The snake thing doesn’t sound likely. Another guess would be an oarfish. It’s tail is very nebulous – sort of like what’s pictured. You’d think an ichthyologist would have seen it and taken it further. The fact that a postcard was made from it would suggest it’s rarity. So I think a tarpon is out. It’s too damn common. My guess is an oarfish – Regalecus glesne.

  3. on second thought – why does this thing have to be a fish? May have been a legless croc that somebody kept alive.
